Credo

Lynda believes that loving and creating are her life purpose. Whether that manifests in building meaningful relationships, writing, or simply preparing gorgeous food, she loves to be fully engaged in the process. Lynda considers solid routines balanced by open spaces that allow for opportunities to be the foundation for her success and happiness.

Personal

Lynda was born in a small prairie town in western Canada in the mid-sixties. She lived with her parents and older brother in a succession of small towns until a traumatic life event had them move to Calgary, Alberta.

When she found out she was pregnant at the age of sixteen, Lynda’s life took on a whole new direction. With the support of her family, as well as a stack of student loans and grants, she attended university. Lynda married and had two more children.

After more than twenty years of trying to fix something that was broken beyond repair, Lynda left her marriage to embark on a new life adventure on Vancouver Island. There she met her soulmate, David. They fell immediately and deeply in love and married in 2014. Later that same year, she and David adopted his stepdaughter.

Lynda’s life transformed once again when she and David moved to the Middle East. The expat gig provided exciting travel opportunities and a myriad of new cultural experiences.

In 2022, Lynda and David moved across the ocean to Panama. What she thought would be a forever home turned out to be a short chapter. In November 2023, life threw another curve ball that had her packing her bags once again and returning to Canada. Lynda currently lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Writing Journey

Since she began scribbling poetry in the back of elementary school exercise books, Lynda has been honing her craft. She has a massive collection of journals, her foundational reflective and creative tools.

Over the years, Lynda has written drafts of novels, received a pile of rejection letters, and had one disastrous quasi-publication experience with a shyster, but she’s never let go of her dream. In 2012, she scratched out the first 5 pages of The Healing, then promptly forgot them amongst the distractions of health challenges and her move to the Middle East.

While living in Riyadh, Lynda created her blog, Musings of an Emotional Creature. She has posted blogs on topics that inspire her on themes of travel, life as an expat, current events, and spirituality. She also was a contributor for DQ Living magazine.

In 2018 a series of challenging life events had Lynda recover those first 5 pages of The Healing. She wrote her first draft and after a query and exchange, Anne O’Connell agreed to be her mentor. In partnership with Anne O’Connell at OC Publishing, Lynda launched The Healing on April 23, 2021, followed by the prequel, The Holding, on April 23, 2022. The Holding & The Healing Companion Journal was released on October 23, 2022. Her third novel, The Rogue Scorpion, launched on April 23, 2023.
