Good Friday

Good Friday is a Roman Catholic holiday, a day in which Christians commemorate the condemnation, passion, crucifixion, and death of Jesus Christ. Traditionally, it is a day of sorrow, penance, and fasting.
In the Jewish faith, Friday marks the beginning of Passover, which celebrates the exodus and liberation of Israelites from slavery in Egypt.
Many Hindus fast on Fridays and offer prayers to Shukra for blessings of love, fertility, and prosperity.
For Muslims, Fridays are sacred because the prophet Muhammed said, “The best day the sun rises over is Friday; on it Allah created Adam. On it, he was made to enter paradise, and on it, he was expelled. The last hour will take place on no other day than Friday.”
Can it be a coincidence that human beings all over the world, of different religions and ideologies, link faith to Friday? Or does it point to the underlying connection of all living things to one Creator? To one universal and eternal consciousness from which all life began?
I don’t claim to have the answers. I do not lean onto my own understanding. But I choose, in faith, to believe we are all loved. I have strong beliefs about the nature of God and creation. Yet I feel no need to be right, or for the beliefs of others to be wrong. I pray, in faith, for the Friday of purpose, forgiveness, and deliverance to be a prophecy for all humankind.
